All the charm of the history of Italy enclosed between the passes and the treasures of the Friulian Alps in the heart of Carnia. Streets and places full of emotions, landscapes and stories still alive …
DEPARTURE DATES
24 – 27 JUNE 2021
22 – 25 JULY 2021
Dedicated departures: Minimum 8 participants
Meeting of the participants at the Allegria 4 * hotel in Udine at 18:00 and accommodation in the rooms. Welcome dinner in a traditional restaurant. Accommodation in the rooms. Overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel. We leave for the first day of riding !!! Almost 300 km of steps and roads that still bear the memory of the First Great War. We leave for San Daniele del Friuli, a place famous for ham and then continue
For Tramonti di Sotto and di Sopra and the Rest. This piece has narrow streets and is a little traveled and quite "wild" area. After the Rest pass, you pass through Ampezzo and go straight to Sauris, another town famous for its ham, completely different from that of San Daniele. We will have the opportunity to make a small stop for a snack in the famous Zahre craft brewery. We continue to climb for about ten km where there are beautiful glimpses with a small encroachment in Veneto to immediately return to Friuli facing the Val Pesarina.
We pass through Pesariis, the town of clocks. The Solari company was born here in 1725. In practice, all the paddle clocks and the old departure / arrival timetables at airports and railway stations started from here. After Comeglians we face the fantastic “Panoramica delle Vette”, a dirt track at about 2000 meters which can be reached by a road full of not indifferent curves and slopes. Stop for lunch at the refuge on the top. The emotions continue with the legendary climb of the Zoncolan, famous for the Tour of Italy, considered the hardest climb in world cycling.
We go down to Tolmezzo and then return to Udine in the late afternoon. Free dinner. Overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel. There is no shortage of curves and steps even today. Departure from Udine towards Cividale del Friuli, called by the Romans Forum Iuli and one of the major Lombard centers in the 5th and 6th centuries. Century, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that we will be able to visit. From here you can enter the Natisone Valleys, places little known by mass tourism, but very beautiful, up to the top of Matajur, the balcony on Friuli.
Continue in the valleys to the Castelmonte Sanctuary and then descend and enter the "alcoholic" area, passing first the "Colli Orientali" and then San Floriano, the center of the Italian Collio. Lunch in Collio in Oslavia on a farm, near the Memorial to the fallen of the First War. After Gorizia, continue towards San Michele del Carso, a battle zone of the First War up to the shrine of Redipuglia. Continuing on the Karst you take one of the most beautiful roads in Italy: the Amalfi coast towards Trieste. Passing near the Miramare Castle, following Barcola, the Trieste beach, you arrive in Trieste, certainly one of the most beautiful cities in Italy. Libyan dinner. Overnight at Hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel. We have the time to enjoy the magical atmosphere of Trieste in its fantastic Piazza Unità d'Italia .... but it doesn't end there !!! Before returning home we indulge in a tasting in Prepotto, on the Karst for a tasting lunch in the Zidarich cellar entirely carved into the rock. We say goodbye after lunch, ready for other roads in our fantastic country.
