A 12-day trip in the mysterious Buddhist kingdom of Tibet which for centuries has fascinated travelers of all times with its pilgrims murmuring mantras, the fabulous monasteries, the splendid views of the highest mountains in the world. The itinerary offers a 360-degree visit of Lhasa and its surroundings, up to go to Gyantse and Shigatse in the province of Tsang. The Tibetan upland, closed to the south by the Himalaya chain, ranges between 3500 m and 5000 meters. The best time for a visit is from late April to early November, whereas July and August can be rainy and winters can be cold. A trip to Tibet requires an excellent spirit of adaptation for the inconviniences related to high altitudes, for long rides on roads that are not always in good condition, for modest accommodations outside Lhasa, for poor cuisine. Local guides speak English.
