The itinerary is designed to discover all the island’s natural wonders, including the fascinating Snaefellsnes peninsula and the majestic Westfjords. The road surface is excellent condition, perfectly asphalted and the areas in rammed earth are accessible by any type of motorcycle. We will proceed at a quiet pitch and the daily stop are designed to have the necessary time to take photos, go on an excursions and enjoy the views in complete tranquility. Geysers, waterfalls, glaciers, fjords, deserts, volcanoes, lakes, national parks, nature reserves and more…… whales, seals, horses, reindeers, birds. An island created by volcanoes and shaped by glaciers where the landscapes are extremely heterogeneous and where the Gulf Stream makes the climate much milder than imagined. We will leave for the Thingvellir National Park (assembly plain) where we will be able to take a delightful walk through the tectonic plates to the seat of the oldest parliament in the world; the Althing (930 AD). Here we will find the homonymous lake which makes the landscape sweet and relaxing. We will continue to the Geysir nature reserve where the Strokkur geyser (the churn) erupts a jet of water about 30 meters high at irregular intervals of 3/5 minutes. The Great Geyser (now inactive) lies in this area, from which the phenomenon takes its name. At 9km we can visit the Gullfoss waterfall (golden waterfall), then we will pass under the famous Eyjafjallajokull volcano, which erupted in 2010 and then visit the Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls. We will continue to the Dyrholaey nature reserve where many bird species nest, including the lovely Puffin.

Today we will cross the deserts of Myrdalssandur and Skeidararsandur, where in 1996 millions of cubic meters of water mixed with ice and volcanic ash (jokullhlaup), caused by the sub-glacial eruption of the Grimsvotn volcano, poured out. We will arrive at the largest glacier in Europe, the Vatnajokull (8,300 km2) and then enter the Skaftafell National Park, where we will be able to admire the glacier in all its power. Continuing along the coast to the spectacular Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon where we can navigate through the icebergs (optional). Possibility of seals sighting.
We will then go to the black beach where the icebergs that come out of the lagoon are beached by the tide, creating a unique charming scenario.

We will travel along the east coast through the wonderful east fjords where reindeers live. We will then climb the terrible Almannaskard pass, where we can stop to admire the breathtaking view. After a coffee break at the characteristic fishermen's village of Djupivogur, we will climb the Oxi pass up to the town of Egilsstadir. From here, we will begin to climb the large internal plateau and then enter the Odadahraun desert where our gaze will get lost on the horizon, and the colors of the soils take on all shades of brown and gray. After a stop at the Modrudalur farm (by Elisabeth) we will arrive at the wonderful nature reserve of Lake Myvatn, where we can visit the boiling mud pools of Namaskard and the pseudo craters of Skutustadir. After crossing the Middle Atlantic ridge, passing from the European to the North American plate. Over 200 species of birds nest in this area, only fifteen of these are ducks. At the end of the day we will relax in the beneficial hot springs of the Myvatn Nature Bath spa.

Today, we will follow the "Ring road" to the crossroad that will take us to the impressive Dettifoss waterfall (powerful waterfall) which, with a jump of 45m and an average flow rate of 500 m3 / s, is the most powerful in Europe. We will then continue along the dirt road 864 up to road 85 which runs along the coast of the Tjornes peninsula, only a few km away from the Arctic circle. We will arrive at the lovely fishermen's village of Husavik from here, we can decide to go to the optional 3 hours boat excursion that goes in search of whales.

Today we will visit the Godafoss waterfall (waterfall of the Gods), characterized by an original horseshoe shape. After about 50 km, we will arrive at the city of Akureyri, located on the Eyjafjordur fjord. We will then cross the fjord through Dalvik, Olafsfjordur and Siglufjordur. We will then enter the Skagafjordur fjord and visit the Glaumbaer folklore museum (optional entrance) where we can find the typical Viking houses built with rocks and peat and where we will have a chance to taste excellent homemade cakes. Lastly, we will get through the city of Blonduos and travel along the beautiful peninsula of Vatnsnes, where we will find many colonies of seals.

Today we will ride back south, crossing the last fjords and then entering the wonderful Snaefellsnes peninsula. At the end of the peninsula lies the Snaefellsjokull volcano-glacier (1446 above sea level) renowned for being the entry point of the famous “Journey to the Center of the Earth” by Jules Verne. Snaefellsjokull is considered by esotericism lovers to be one of the seven "great energy centers of the world".

Today will be dedicated to the visit of the Snaefellsnes peninsula and the Snaefellsjokull National Park. The park was established by the Icelandic government on 28th June 2001 with the aim of preserving flora and fauna. The peninsula is characterized by bizarre rock formations due to the particular cooling of the lava. Wonderful beaches both black and golden, coasts overlooking the sea from which we will be able to admire seals, sea birds, and breathtaking views. We will then get down towards Borgarnes, crossing the Hvalfjordur fjord where the winding road will allow us to have fun in the fold between unique scenarios and, with such sorrow, eventually closing the “ring” arriving in Reykjavik in the afternoon.
Transfer to Kelfavik international airport with Flybus Plus and return to Italy with scheduled flight (cost not included in the fee).
